Rooted in Heritage. Guided by Genetics.

About Farm Arcadia

Farm Arcadia was built around a simple idea: thoughtful breeding, strong genetics, and practical livestock suited for real homesteads.

What began with chickens, honeybees, and dairy goats gradually expanded into a broader livestock program that now includes East Friesian dairy sheep and A2A2 Jersey cattle. Along the way, experience with multiple species has shaped a clear direction—focusing on animals that are productive, manageable, and genuinely useful in a working homestead setting.

The Farm

Farm Arcadia sits on a mix of rolling pasture, ponds, streams, and pine forest, with areas intentionally left in a more natural state. The setting plays a direct role in how animals are raised—on pasture, with space to move, and in an environment that reflects real conditions rather than controlled or artificial systems.

The work here is hands-on. Daily care, observation, and long-term familiarity with the animals guide decisions more than rigid systems or trends.

Experience & Approach

Working with chickens, bees, goats, sheep, cattle, and hogs over time has provided a practical understanding of how different species perform, interact, and contribute to a homestead. That experience has led to a focused approach centered on:

Rather than selecting for single traits, the goal is to develop animals that perform well across the full range of what is expected of them.

Thoughtful Breeding & Stewardship

We believe that preserving and improving livestock breeds requires both respect for traditional agricultural practices and careful use of modern tools.

There is value in what has been developed over generations—both in the animals themselves and in the knowledge surrounding them. At the same time, responsible use of genetic tools allows for better tracking, selection, and long-term planning.

Our aim is to contribute to that continuity—maintaining strong, functional livestock while supporting efforts such as the development of the Arcadian East Friesian Registry.

How We Work

Our program is intentionally structured to support both the animals and the people who purchase them.

Animals are offered through a reservation-based process, allowing requests to be organized in the order they are received and worked through as animals become available. This provides a clear and predictable system while allowing time to match animals thoughtfully with new homes.

Because breeding is planned in advance and availability is limited, we encourage those interested to consider their goals carefully and plan ahead.

A Practical Focus

The animals raised at Farm Arcadia are intended to be used—not simply owned.

Whether for milk production, breeding, showing, or long-term homestead use, the focus remains on livestock that perform reliably under real conditions. This includes animals that are adaptable, manageable, and capable of contributing meaningfully to a working farm.

An appreciation for good food is part of that system—milk, cheese, well-raised meat, and farm-produced food that reflects the quality of the animals and how they are managed as well as enriching our lives.

Farm Arcadia is built on steady, long-term work rather than rapid expansion.

We strive to learn from what has been done well in the past while contributing in a way that supports future generations—both in the animals themselves and in the role they play on the homesteads where they are kept.

The goal is simple: to raise livestock that will serve well, hold their value over time, and become part of something lasting.
